Our March Book Club selection was The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and we had a great time discussing it this month. I think we collectively enjoyed this novel. We discussed the comparisons to real life movie stars like Rita Hayworth, Liz Taylor and Rock Hudson and what celebrities have to go through to stay private. We also appreciated how the author was able to beautifully evoke the era for someone of a younger age. A few readers suggested other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid, such as Daisy Jones and the Six and Malibu Rising.
Our April selection is Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jess Q. Sutanto. This cozy mystery about 60-year-old Vera Wong, a bored, lonely woman looking for a new lease on life—which comes in the form of a corpse on the floor of her tea shop. She sets out to solve the crime herself, and in the process, she meets four young people who need the mothering that she was born to give.
Copies are available at the Library, as well as available for check out at our other branches, along with digital editions on Libby, Hoopla, and Palace Project. If you finish your copy quickly, please return it to me so someone else might get the chance to read.
Hope to see you soon!
Happy Reading~
